Distance Education: Prospective Students

How Aid Works

Your financial aid eligibility is a based on the cost of attendance for your program of study.

Calculating your Cost of Attendance

The estimated cost of attendance (budget) used to determine your financial aid eligibility includes an amount for tuition, based on your enrollment plans, as well as average amounts for standard educational expenses such as room and board.  Also included are books, supplies, and miscellaneous expenses.

Online students enrolled in at least 4 units per semester may be eligible for federal financial aid —in the form of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans and Federal Direct PLUS Loans — and may be considered for departmental scholarships. Online students are not eligible for Federal Work-Study.

Tuition for online programs is based on the per-unit rate, published in the current Schedule of Classes. Fees vary by program. Please check with the departmental website or online.usc.edu for details regarding cost of attendance.
